So almost everyone and their mommas were pissed at how Venom was portrayed in Spider-man 3. In efforts to alleviate this debacle, Sony's Colombia Pictures is now planning to create a Venom spin-off. With the tremendous success of sinister villains in movies nowadays , Sony believes a Venom film can be "The Dark Knight" of the Spider-man franchise. One thing is for certain they are definitely not certain on Topher Grace reprising the role as Venom. Todd McFarlane, who is one of the creators of the Marvel villain, doesn't think a Venom movie could do well with a villain as the central character. Sony in the meanwhile has hired a pair of screenwriters to start work on the film itself.

To be honest with you guys, im kinda doubting this one. I have more faith in the Wolverine spin-off due to his very detailed back story. Let's be honest, can you picture Venom in a film with no Spider-man around? Lets hope Sony is not making a huge mistake here.

I couldnt begin to imagine the things Venom would do throughout the movie. A swing around the city? strip club? try to find more black symbiote friends? i mean seriously....
Yea this whole idea makes no sense... You are asking for a flop by trying to make a movie based on a character that at best had a 5-10 comic mini series. If Venom was a serious contender he would have had his own established series. I'd be much more interested in seeing them actually make the long rumored Black Panther movie. THAT would be tight, although I guess they would have to find a Wesley Snipes replacement.
