Gaming through Youtube?

The Associated Press has reported that Youtube will be offering its viewers the chance to buy games, movies, TV shows, concert tickets and many other products mentioned in particular video clips. When the viewer clicks on one of the links or "click to buy ads", they are taken to another website such as Amazon or iTunes where they can purchase the desired song or product. Youtube will receive a commission for each completed sale made through these means. Their product management director Shishir Mehrotra said "This is just the first step in this adventure." as they plan to eventually expand this form of advertising to outside the United States. Currently the only game company on board is Electronic Arts but Youtube hopes to convince other gaming companies to join it in the future.

Googles got to recoup their $1.76 Billion dollars somehow right? I don't mind as long as its implemented well and not intrusive to the viewer. The one thing I hate on other media sites is that before your able to even watch a video they force you to go through a 30-45 second advertisement EVERY TIME. Youtube needs to understand that people visit their site to watch videos, not make purchases. As long as they carry that type of mentality I don't think we have anything to worry about. Hell in the long run it could be beneficial to both the consumer and all companies involved.
